Market: Will anyone audibly fart during Digital Asset Summit?
Platform: Polymarket
Did you hear a fart? It was not me!
In one of the more unconventional and comically contentious markets on Polymarket, traders were asked to determine whether an audible fart would occur during the Digital Asset Summit. While the premise seemed light-hearted, the resolution process turned into a surprisingly intense debate
Contrary to some users’ expectations, this market had nothing to do with Donald Trump—who, fortunately or unfortunately, was not present at the event in question. The moment deemed “suspicious” sparked a flurry of discussion across UMA governance forums, as a peculiar sound was captured on audio during the summit.
The “Yes” side argued that the sound bore all the hallmarks of a classic fart: distinct, isolated, and unmistakably biological in nature. They emphasized the unique tone and clear recognizability of the noise.
On the other hand, the “No” camp maintained that the evidence was inconclusive. They proposed alternative explanations such as background interference, chair movement, rustling fabric, or even ambient wind noise. Their stance was that the sound, while odd, did not meet the burden of proof required for such a specific and unusual claim.
After a spirited and, at times, hilariously serious debate on UMA, the market was resolved to No. No fart was officially recognized, and the trading community was left with yet another reminder of how even the most ridiculous-sounding markets can generate deeply engaged—and oddly scientific—discussions on Polymarket.
