Anjun From College to Polymarket Legend

Anjun One of the OG polymarket traders tells his story

Anjun: From College to Polymarket Legend

It all started in the summer of 2021 for trader Anjun. By pure chance, he discovered Polymarket during a livestream, back then, he had no idea how much this platform would change his life. What began as a small discovery soon turned into a journey that made him one of the best known OG figures on Polymarket. With over $600k in profits, his story shows how persistence can shape a trader’s path; Polynoob had the pleasure of interviewing him Here is his story.

So how did you find out about Polymarket?

I had already been involved in betting and cryptocurrency since I turned 18. As soon as I came of age, I immediately started looking for ways to make money online and began with matched betting.

But everything changed in the blink of an eye for him

“One day, while I watching Hikaru Nakamura’s stream, I saw a sponsorship for Polymarket, it combined my two passions, betting and crypto.”

He immediately realized that Polymarket was different from his previous experiences in the crypto world and sports betting.

I immediately saw the potential in this site, which at the time was still operating with AMM, liquidity was provided by the site, and I deposited part of my earnings in crypto, and that’s where my story began.

Perseverance and determination, the key to his success

When asked if luck played a role, Anjun is candid:

“Yes, I feel lucky for discovering Polymarket, but what I’ve achieved is mostly the result of hours, days, and months spent grinding. This site is all about the never stop clicking mentality. From being just a university student, I suddenly found myself playing with stakes worth months of an average salary in my country.”

Dedication and perseverance are the qualities that have allowed Ajuin to move forward and do what would have been impossible for a simple university student.

A mistake that could have cost him a lot

Interestingly, Anjun rarely suffered massive losses from his own trades. Naturally risk-averse, he always aimed to minimize exposure.

But fate tested him in January 2024, during the Taiwanese elections market.

Polymarket was undergoing a redesign, and due to a “bug“, he accidentally placed a $30k NO bet on the actual winner, Lai Ching-te.

“Recovering $30k would have taken me months. Luckily, most of my counterparties were 50pence and Simon, who had placed stink bids. I reached them, explained what happened, and thanks to their empathy, I managed to get out with only a partial loss. Without them, my story on Polymarket might have ended very differently.”

It’s one of those anecdotes that perfectly illustrates the human side of predictive markets.
Especially on Polymarket, where behind every trader there are no money-hungry monsters, but empathetic people with great intellectual gifts.

The Polymarket community stood out at that time for being truly unique and kind in the world of crypto, prediction markets, and finance.

Markets of Controversy

When he thinks of Polymarket, one event stands above the rest:

the 2024 U.S. elections. For me, that was the peak of Polymarket

He further explains what the strongest points of Polymarket are

The platform thrives when it focuses on highly controversial topics. Whether it’s Zelensky’s suit, Kanye Coin, or global conflicts, the market only exists because there are people passionately betting on both YES and NO. Without controversy, there is no Polymarket.”

It’s a simple truth, yet one that captures the essence of prediction markets.

Controversy and chaos are all ingredients that make a market truly legendary, and until man is owner of his fate, there will always be controversy and a Polymarket to predict the outcome.

Trading Style and Preferences

Is there a favorite category on Polymarket?

Crypto, sports, current events, politics… in four years of polymarket trading, I’ve traded all types of markets, seen everything and more. I don’t have an absolute preference

The more time passes and the more their portfolios grow, and more become interested in different categories, but their preference always remains the same, he add:

although I probably prefer trading markets where there are numerical/statistical data, such as box office figures.

Those markets, grounded in hard data, offer less noise and more room for rational analysis

Advice to Future Traders from Anjun

His words of wisdom are straightforward, born from years of experience:

“Never buy impulsively. Avoid market buys, don’t give in to FOMO.

Always think twice before clicking. And once you’ve learned that discipline, the only thing left to do is simple: never stop clicking.”

Simple but powerful advice, that many people sometimes forget
